Hello, world! I’m Devina, and I’m a Potterhead. I have been blogging since 2011, Hot Chocolate & Books being my first ever online home from which multiple hangouts have branched out.

Like myself, it’s always a work in progress as witnessed by those kind people who’ve been following me for some time now even in my periodic negligence. For the more recent crowd, think of a raccoon high on double chocolate fudge Ben & Jerry’s with opposable thumbs and access to the internet.

This isn’t strictly a book blog. I also write about thoughts, music, some stories and poems I’m brave enough to share. 
I’m active on Goodreads, I’m a librarian there. If you see anything that needs correcting, shoot me a line.

I need music as much as I need to read. I don’t like it in a technical way but in the way it makes me feel … it makes me feel a whole lot of stuff, okay? Good stuff so good I never ever want to do weed (is weed still a thing?). I used to be a movie buff, now I’m too busy adulting.

My other love is language. Not any particular one. Just the infinite, intangible, flexible but solid gorgeous weight of it. Currently, I’m studying “Introduction to Linguistics” online at Leiden University via Coursera and I’m self-studying a language at any given time (whenever I do get the time), it’s German and Spanish currently.

In conjunction with my interests in language, I find great joy with my readings into archaeology and anthrpology. My favorite ancient cities include Petra, Palmyra, and Rome all of which I want to visit, though I still have tons more to read. I adore traveling as well, there’s a growing bucket list in my back pocket.

I am grateful for a lot of things and one among them is the opportunity to write here, to interact with all of you gorgeous people. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow, as much as I already have and how much more I’ve yet to go.

Also, I’m way funnier in real life. It doesn’t translate in my writing most of the time and that’s a tragedy *sigh*
